The Frugal Local coupon book is designed to encourage Coronado residents to shop local, support neighborhood businesses, and stay connected to the community they call home. At the same time, it also provides meaningful visibility for select off-island businesses that serve Coronado customers who regularly travel for dining, services, and specialty offerings. Our goal is to create a trusted platform that strengthens local loyalty while connecting readers with businesses that add value to their lives by staying connected to trusted businesses beyond the island.

A Personal Note

We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural edition of The Frugal Local – Coronado Edition, arriving July 4th during one of Coronado’s most beloved traditions: the 77th Annual Independence Day Parade and Fireworks Celebration.

There is truly nothing like the Fourth of July in Coronado. From the parade down Orange Avenue to the music, families, flags, fireworks, and thousands of visitors filling the island with energy and pride, it is one of the most exciting and meaningful days of the year. For us, it felt like the perfect time to introduce a new publication built around community, connection, and local discovery.

The Frugal Local was created to help residents and visitors discover businesses, services, restaurants, stories, and special offers that add value to everyday life. While our heart is rooted in Coronado, we also understand that Coronado residents regularly travel beyond the bridge for dining, services, shopping, entertainment, and specialty businesses. That is why this publication proudly welcomes both Coronado businesses and trusted off-island businesses that want to reach Coronado’s loyal, engaged, and high-value audience.

This first edition represents more than advertising. It represents relationships. Every featured business becomes part of a growing community platform designed to support local connection, encourage discovery, and introduce readers to businesses worth knowing — both on the island and throughout the greater San Diego area.

At BLU Lapis Media, we believe every community has stories worth telling and businesses worth supporting. The Frugal Local is our way of bringing those stories, businesses, and opportunities together in one beautiful, easy-to-read publication.

We are grateful to every business, supporter, and reader helping us bring this first edition to life. As Coronado celebrates America’s birthday in grand fashion, we are honored to launch something new that celebrates community, connection, and the people who keep our local economy moving forward.

Welcome to The Frugal Local.
